Does your child struggle to focus, seem easily distracted, or find it difficult to keep up in class? It may not be your first thought, but it could be a vision problem.
Researchers have found that a whopping 80% of our sensory information is visual. That means that clear and comfortable vision is essential for your child’s healthy growth and development, and ability to learn.
That’s where we come in – at Pezzimenti Nixon, we’re deeply passionate about helping kids overcome vision challenges. Our team has expertise in paediatric optometry, years of experience and engages in continued learning.
We conduct eye tests for kids of all ages – from babies to school starters, to teenagers.
Early and regular testing helps us monitor your child’s vision as they progress through the stages of childhood, ensuring their visual and perceptual skills are developing as they should.
We recommend an initial exam at twelve months old, where we can check for eye turns (strabismus) or significant refractive errors, another test at 3-4 years old before they begin school and every 2 years after that.
Not all vision issues can be fixed with a pair of glasses. Some children need additional support to improve how their eyes work together or communicate with the brain.
Our vision therapy programs for kids are specifically designed to strengthen cortical control of visual skills and help their eyes work better as a team (and have fun while they’re doing it!).
